What is heat island 

An area experiencing higher temperature than its surrounding becomes a heat island. Urban heat island means urban areas getting significantly warmer compared with surrounding areas.

Causes:-

Population increases

deforestation 
           ⬇️                                       
 human settlement/industrialization/urbanisation/infrastructure development etc. 
           ⬇️
Promotes green house gases and increase concreate jungle finally traps more the solar radiation
           ⬇️
Intensifies and extensifies rate trapping short wave/long wave radiation
           ⬇️
Temperature increases
